Setco Automotive U.K. Ltd is a subsidiary of the Indian Setco Automotive Ltd, a premier manufacturer of clutch products for the automotive and hydraulic products for the construction equipment industry.
Headquartered in Mumbai, India, Setco has around 650 employees based in two manufacturing facilities in India, and one each in North America and the United Kingdom.
The Challenge
Facilitating Global Collaboration and Securing Intellectual Property
Based in Haslingden, Lancashire, Setco’s UK facility is fully integrated into the Setco group and operates manufacturing and warehouse facilities. In addition the company is also the R&D hub for Setco’s clutch products and technology provider to the group globally. With intensifying competition in the global automotive industry, improving team collaboration between the Setco sites and also between Setco and its customers, suppliers and joint venture partners was an imperative requirement to boost productivity.
“The automotive industry is a very dynamic one with volatile costs, varied customer demand and a high level of globalization. Thus there is a challenge for constant innovation coupled with a continuous process of research and development to achieve better speed to market. To meet this goal we needed to enhance our product development by providing our geographically dispersed teams and partners around the globe with quick and secure access to data and up-to-date information. Moreover, we had to carefully control and monitor the distribution and exchange of Setco’s sensitive product information which is one of our major company assets”, comments Matt Kershaw, Project Manager, Setco.
Setco required a new collaboration solution to promote efficiency by:
- reducing the potential for introducing errors by not creating duplicate data;
- minimizing delays by improving working practices;
- establishing shared business processes across multiple sites;
- safe and controlled data and information-sharing;
- automated document version synchronization including check in/out and approval routing workflows;
- meeting industry expected standards.
The Solution
Crossing all Boundaries with On-Demand Collaboration
Setco decided to deploy Trubiquity’s TRUunity collaboration solution. TRUunity is an on-demand/Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution for linking teams, customers and partners regardless of geographic location and across company boundaries, firewalls or disparate systems. The solution focuses on
collaborative data management functionality for the automotive industry;- ease of use and simplicity of administration;
- rapid deployment with minimal end-user training;
- data security confidence for its users.

Furthermore, Setco can expand its use of Trubiquity solution’s to support large CAD file data exchange to meet mandated OEM requirements such as Odette OFTP2, Request for Quotation (RFQ) automation and improving the audit trail of distributed intellectual property.
